COSM 111 - Principles and Procedures of Cosmetology I

Introduction and overview of all aspects of cosmetology.
Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Recognize safety and sanitation measures for protection of the client and Cosmetologist for each service rendered.
  2. Identify implements used for services involved in basic Cosmetology.
  3. Classify types/kinds of basic haircuts/hairstyles.
  4. Examine solutions for selected type client service scenarios.
  5. Identify the interpersonal and communication skills with Cosmetology customers and Peers.
  6. Identify different services provided in a salon.
  7. Identify Washington State Cosmetology regulations and laws.

  1. Bacteriology, Sanitation/Sterilization shampoo, rinse
  2. Facial, massage
  3. Haircutting
  4. First aid/HIV
  5. Fingerwaves and safety
  6. Scalp treatment and properties of scalp and hair
  7. Manicuring
  8. Color and safety
  9. Rollers and pincurls
  10. Permanent waving
  11. Draping and safety
