DT 281 - Engines Advanced Credits: 1-5 A detailed study and analysis of mechanical and electronic diesel injection systems. This class will emphasize ASE/NATEF competency completion. Students must be seeking a degree or certificate in Diesel Technology. Course Outcomes:
- Examine diesel combustion theory using the appropriate terminology.
- Analyze diesel injection pump and injector service.
- Analyze diesel engine performance issues.
- Evaluate personal progress on NATEF task list.

- Diesel engine history
- Basic fuel systems and components
- Mechanical fuel injection diagnosis and repair
- Electronic fuel injection diagnosis and repair
- Emissions
- Air induction and exhaust systems
- Engine brakes and retarders
- General engine diagnosis
