DT 180 - Suspension and Alignment Credits: 1-5 Study of suspensions as found on medium and heavy duty vehicles. Alignment of axles and wheels is also covered. Topics include alignment principles and terminology, spring suspensions, air suspensions, beam suspensions, tire wear identification, and wheel safety. This class will emphasize ASE/NATEF competency completion. Students must be seeking a degree or certificate in Diesel Technology. Course Outcomes:
- Choose appropriate alignment principles and terminology.
- Classify front and rear end suspension systems.
- Describe tire wear characteristics.
- Select appropriate wheel safety, handling, and repair strategies.
- Evaluate personal progress on NATEF task list.
