DT 151 - Shop Fundamentals/Forklift Training Credits: 1-9 Designed to introduce, perfect, and evaluate basic safety and shop skills necessary for successful completion of the Diesel Technology program. Consists of instruction and shop performance exercises in safety; hand and machine tool operation, use, and maintenance; hardware identification; and other basic shop skills. Forklift driver certification is also taught. Students must be seeking a certificate or degree in Diesel Technology. Course Outcomes:
- Demonstrate safe working practices
- Identify unsafe working situations
- Demonstrate appropriate basic shop skills as identified by the diesel competencies
- Demonstrate safe machine and hand tool usage
- Identify common hardware
- Demonstrate the ability to measure accurately
- Demonstrate the ability to operate a forklift safely
- Track competencies using the Skill Manager System
