ENGL& 111 - Intro to Literature

Examines poetry, fiction, drama, and non-fiction.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Interpret complex forms of literature to derive meaning or themes.
  2. Evaluate the interpretations of others by comparing them back to the text.
  3. Identify and articulate complex ideas and themes in stories and poems through thoughtful and intelligent discussion or written assignments.
  4. Distinguish their own world view from the theme of a story of poem.
  5. Practice and successfully apply strategies and concepts for understanding various forms of literature, such as plays, poems, short stories, novels, film, and comics, from various cultures and historic times.
  6. Apply literary terms and concepts to various pieces of literature to analyze how they work.
