HPER 274 - Personal and Community Health and Hygiene Credits: 5 This course will present current information to students and enable them to make intelligent decisions concerning their physical, mental, and social well-being. The importance of positive personality and self-image is also stressed as a basis for sound health decisions. This course counts as an ELECTIVE toward an AA degree, NOT as an ACTIVITY COURSE. Course Outcomes:
- Assess personal physical and mental health.
- Identify key components to healthy relationships.
- Identify key components to healthy sexuality.
- Summarize the risks fo alcohol and tobacco use.
- Identify key components to healthy nutrition, weight managment, and stress management, and formulate a personalized fitness for life plan.
- Recognize common diseases, causes, and prevention strategies.
- List access points to health care.
