HPER 147 - Walking II Credits: 1 This course explores the theory, knowledge and practical experience in the principles of walking and its relationship to lifetime fitness. Course Outcomes:
- Calculate target heart rate and demonstrate its use in assessing walking and/or jogging intensity.
- Articulate and practice proper walking body mechanics.
- Develop an individual workout plan with strategic design and attainable goals.
- Identify the benefits of proper exercise methods, warm up and cool down techniques, stretching techniques, and safety.
- Demonstrate the progressive increase of workload to improve fitness levels.
- Practice concepts associated with general fitness, cardiovascular improvement, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, stress reduction, and safety.
