IRR 112 - Irrigation Principles

Overview of the elements of irrigation and its industry. Topics include irrigation methods, efficiencies, equipment, and their relationships to soils and plants.
Course Outcomes:
 
  1. Identify irrigation system components.
  2. Identify irrigation system types.
  3. Explain the installation, operation, basic maintenance, and costs of types of irrigation systems.
  4. Describe the impacts of water quality and supply on irrigation system selection, operation and efficiency.
  5. Describe environmental control strategies implemented using irrigation systems.
  6. Describe an electrical layout for an irrigation system
  7. Analyze irrigation methods for best selection and use.
  8. Devise an irrigation scheduling program using the principles of plant-soil-water relationships.
