MATH 040 - Number Sense, Computation, and Math Study Skills Credits: 5 Reinforcement of the student’s arithmetic background and its application to common mathematical tasks involving integers, fractions, and decimals. Introduction to a variety of strategies designed to reduce math anxiety and improve student success. Course Outcomes:
- Students will be able to organize numbers with regard to place values.
- Students will be able to perform basic computations including order of operations exercises on whole numbers, integers, fractions and decimals without the use of a calculator.
- Students will be able to use a scientific calculator to perform basic computations including order of operations exercises on whole numbers, integers, fractions and decimals.
- Students will be able to use online resources to supplement their learning.
- Students will demonstrate their understanding of study skills and college readiness.
