PMT 109 - Introduction to Precision Machining


Credits: 5
Provide orientation and initial experiences with the safe configuration, set-up, operation, horizontal milling machines, lathes, and related components, tools, knowledge, and skills.
Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Observe and practice proper safety rules and regulations in the shop.
  2. Make accurate measurements with precision measuring tools.
  3. Sharpen tools.
  4. Clean and service the engine lathe.
  5. Operate an engine lathe to make a part.
  6. These are minimum requirements; the instructor may add additional skills as deemed necessary.
