ACCT 405 - Principles of Income Tax

Reviews the federal tax structure and ability to apply tax principles to specific problems.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Define the components of the federal tax equation.
  2. Differentiate components of gross income.
  3. Compare and contrast Internal Revenue Code with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  4. Define personal and dependency exemptions.
  5. Define characteristics of itemized deductions.
  6. Demonstrate understanding of refundable and non-refundable tax credits.
  7. Apply depreciation rules and capital gains and loss rules to capital assets.
  8. Apply individual tax law to achieve minimum tax liability as required by law.
  9. Identify and analyze tax forms related to business entities and trusts.
