CMST& 230 - Small Group Communication

Develops student competency in navigating the complex dynamics of small task-oriented groups. Students develop competency in the practice of communication, problem-solving, and participative -leadership skills that are vital in the professional world.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Identify and apply the traits and behaviors essential to group success.
  2. Utilize a varied set of communication skills to maintain group cohesion and facilitate positive group outcomes.
  3. Apply strategies for equitable and effective decision-making.
  4. Demonstrate participant-leadership skills and best practices in a small group setting.
  5. Recognize and create strategies to manage conflict and common negative behaviors in meetings.
  6. Identify the presence and effect of power dynamics in teams.
