TRK 110 - Truck Driver Training Credits: 6 Entry-level lecture training for long haul truck driving jobs and commercial driving license testing. Topics include basics of trucking industry and trucking equipment: inspection of equipment, mechanical components, brake adjustment, preventative maintenance, servicing, defensive driving techniques, cargo loading, securing load, documentation, map reading, DOT log books, trip planning, accident and fire prevention, reporting, hazardous material transportation and documentation. Course Outcomes:
- Verify qualifications and complete CDL Endorsement tests.
- Record and graph hours using a manual logbook, including on-duty driving, on duty not driving, sleeper, off duty, and available hours.
- Plan route using a Carriers’ Atlas.
- Evaluate cab controls and gauges, power train, brakes, steering, and various engines and components following Washington State Licensure requirements for pre-trip inspection, basic skills, and driving.

LEC Credits: 6 LEC hours per week: 6 Prerequisite(s): The prospective student must: have a valid state license with NO current driving privilege suspension in any state; demonstrate physical qualifications by passing a D.O.T. physical examination and drug screening as required by FMCSR part 391; meet current hiring standards as set by the trucking industry; be 18 years old; and have instructor permission.
