CARP 171 - Introduction to Carpentry

Introduction to the construction industry and principles of residential building construction. Coursework includes excavation, footings, foundations, wall framing, trusses, sheathing and tool safety.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Identify safe and professional construction environment practices.
  2. Describe how a building is laid out on a lot.
  3. Identify the types of foundation.
  4. Describe the rough framing used for a building.
  5. Identify different types of fasteners.
  6. Explain how each type of fastener is used.
