AGSC 114 - Plant Physiology Credits: 5 Provides a practical understanding of plant structure, function and physiological processes involved in growth and development. Course Outcomes:
- Diagram and describe the components of a plant cell.
- Compare and contrast various forms of propagation.
- Explain the influence of plant growth regulators and hormones on plant development.
- Describe the interactions between organelles, pigments, hormones, and environmental conditions in photosynthesis and respiration.
- Illustrate the transpiration cycle and describe factors affecting transpiration rate to a specific plant species.
- Identify deficiencies, modes of transport, and tissue evaluation methodologies for essential nutrients.
- Interpret tissue tests and provide nutrient recommendations.
- Describe plant growth and development within different growing environments.
- Discuss modern plant breeding techniques and recognize public concerns.
