ANSC 224 - Pasture and Range Management

A study of the proper use and management of forage producing lands using grazing animals as a method to harvest and utilize this resource. This class will also focus on the economics of grazing livestock and the environmental sustainability issue surrounding the topic.
Course Outcomes:
 
  1. Identify various pasture and forage plants.
  2. Demonstrate the appropriate use of different pasture plants.
  3. Examine and question the effects of soil fertility on forage production.
  4. Evaluate grazing methods and proper use.
  5. Predict costs associated with managing and proper utilization of pasture and range.
