ANSC 112 - Feeds and Feeding Credits: 5 Addresses common feeding practices and nutrient characteristics of animal feeds. Course Outcomes:
- Recognize the major nutrients and the role each of the nutrients plays in animal nutrition.
- Describe basic functions of digestion systems for monogastric and ruminant animals.
- Analyze various types of livestock feed.
- Predict the relative levels of nutrients that common feeds contain.
- Analyze required nutrients for livestock.
- Employ knowledge of balancing rations for different species including multiple methods and nutrients.
- Assemble comprehensive feeding strategies for profitable livestock enterprise management.

- Terminology of feed composition: Proximate analysis, measures of feed energy, units of measure of vitamins and minerals, voluntary feed intake
- Ration balancing, substitution and fix ingredients
- Beef cattle nutrition
