BUS 231 - Electronic Medical Records

Explores the flow of information in a medical office. EHR Navigator software programs are utilized to process information and produce typical medical office documents, financial records, and insurance claims.
Course Outcomes:
  1. Utilize EHR Navigator to record patient encounter transactions and payments.
  2. Utilize EHR Navigator to create insurance claims, produce patient statements, and print reports.
  3. Demonstrate ability to apply payments to patient ledgers and answer patient questions regarding the balance of their account.
  4. Demonstrate ability to extract or update information in EHR Navigator database.
  5. Utilize scheduling software to schedule, revise, and locate patient appointments; print schedules; and keep track of doctors’ availability.
  6. Maintain both paper and electronic financial records of the medical office.
  7. Perform collection tasks.
  8. Understand and apply medical office terminology.
  9. Produce professional correspondence.
  10. Become familiar with the EMR program and patient charts and understand what functions they serve, capabilities, and what features interface with EHR Navigator.

  3. Produce medical office correspondence
  4. Keyboarding Techniques to increase speed and accuracy
