AUDIO 101 - Audio Engineering I

This course provides an introduction to audio engineering and the role of an audio engineer. Students explore how audio works, learn essential audio vocabulary, and distinguish the characteristics and uses of audio cables. Students acquire basic skills for troubleshooting audio hardware and software.
Course Outcomes:
  • Explain how audio works.
  • Define the roles and responsibilities of recording audio engineer, mixing audio engineer, mastering audio engineer, live sound audio engineer.
  • Define terms for a variety of audio software and hardware.
  • Identify audio cables according to their uses and characteristics, such as balanced or unbalanced.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware and software.
