AUDIO 121 - Digital Audio I

This course introduces students to recording software and its uses. Students learn Logic Pro recording software, audio interfaces hardware, and midi controllers. Students will learn to replicate skills learned on analog audio gear in a digital audio workspace. Additional topics include audio plugins and FX.
Course Outcomes:

Demonstrate proper audio project file loading and saving.
Explain different track types and formats in Logic Pro.
Send audio and midi signal to and from recording software.
Navigate the main window, mix window, and editor and use command keys and shortcuts to managerecording, editing, and playback.
Import audio and midi files into a Logic Pro project.
Export independent audio stems and stereo tracks in various audio formats.
Name individual audio and midi tracks and audio and midi regions.

Course Topics:

Creating a new track, choosing track type, copying a selected track
Setting or changing inputs and outputs for a track.
Accessing and importing audio and midi loops.
Main window, mix window, editor window, tools, transport bar, ruler.
Audio plugins and signal flow.
