AGSC 114 - Plant Physiology

Provides a practical understanding of plant structure, function and physiological processes involved in growth and development. Formerly: AGPR 114.
Course Outcomes:
 

  • Diagram and describe the components of a plant cell.
  • Compare and contrast various forms of propagation.
  • Explain the influence of plant growth regulators and hormones on plant development.
  • Describe the interactions between organelles, pigments, hormones, and environmental conditions in photosynthesis and respiration.
  • Illustrate the transpiration cycle and describe factors affecting transpiration rate to a specific plant species.
  • Identify deficiencies, modes of transport, and tissue evaluation methodologies for essential nutrients.
  • Interpret tissue tests and provide nutrient recommendations.
  • Describe plant growth and development within different growing environments.
  • Discuss modern plant breeding techniques and recognize public concerns.
