AGSC 135 - Mechanization of GIS Credits: 3 LEC hours per week: 2 LAB hours per week: 2 This course is an introduction to the practical applications of Geographic Informational Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) in agriculture. Content will include reasoning, methods, and technology used for data collection, and how that data is further applied through integration with mechanized equipment. Formerly: AGPR 135. Course Outcomes:
- Utilize and/or operate GIS, GPS, DGPS (Differential GPS), and remote sensing platforms used in agriculture.
- Identify the mechanical and technological components of a Precision Agriculture system.
- Relate Precision Agriculture practices to historical farm management practices.
- Operate software and hardware used in precision applications.
- Analyze the programming of autonomous control systems used in precision applications.
