ANTH& 100 - Survey of Anthropology Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Introduction to the study of anthropology and various cultures around the world. Provides a brief study of the four main subfields of anthropology: Biological Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, and Linguistics. Formerly: ANTH 101. Course Outcomes:
- Articulate an understanding of the broad field of anthropology through its four major subfields: physical anthropology, archaeology, cultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology.
- Explain the relevance of the anthropological perspective to global issues and cultural diversity.
- Compare multiple cultures in detail to gain an enhanced understanding of human diversity.
- Apply anthropological research to articulate well-supported positions on anthropological controversies in popular culture.
