BUS 220 - Introduction to Finance Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Tools and concepts useful to making financial management decisions in business firms will be discussed. Topics include: the role of national economic policy and the ways in which different financial institutions are operated. Student may not earn credit for both BUS 220 and AGBS 220 . Course Outcomes:
- Describe major components of the U.S. financial system, and explain their history and role in macroeconomic policy.
- List characteristics of stocks and bonds and calculate valuations.
- Recognize the process used to issue, sell and purchase new and existing securities.
- Analyze financial statements by calculating selected financial ratios.
- Identify working capital management principles.
- Compare sources and strategies for short term financing.
- Appraise investment opportunities using capital budget analysis techniques.
