CJ 303 - Legal Research

This course provides an introduction to legal research and writing with emphasis on the identification and analysis of legal problems utilizing primary and secondary resources. Students are expected to compose a variety of written forms that adhere to the conventions of the legal profession. This course is for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science Program.
Course Outcomes:
  • Analyze and summarization case law decisions.
  • Use computer-assisted legal research programs.
  • Utilize Shepardizing to validate research.
  • Recognize distinction between relevant facts from legally unimportant facts.
  • Apply legal writing skills by preparing memoranda and legal citation.
