COSM 111 - Principles and Procedures of Cosmetology I Credits: 1-11 LEC hours per week: 11 Introduction and overview of all aspects of cosmetology. Course Outcomes:
- Recognize safety and sanitation measures for protection of the client and Cosmetologist for each service rendered.
- Identify implements used for services involved in basic Cosmetology.
- Classify types/kinds of basic haircuts/hairstyles.
- Examine solutions for selected type client service scenarios.
- Identify the interpersonal and communication skills with Cosmetology customers and Peers.
- Identify different services provided in a salon.
- Identify Washington State Cosmetology regulations and laws.

- Bacteriology, Sanitation/Sterilization shampoo, rinse
- Facial, massage
- Haircutting
- First aid/HIV
- Fingerwaves and safety
- Scalp treatment and properties of scalp and hair
- Manicuring
- Color and safety
- Rollers and pincurls

- Draping and safety
