CS 290 - System Analysis and Design (Critical Thinking) Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Apply problem-solving, system analysis, and rapid application development techniques to design appropriate hardware/software solutions to meet various end user requirements. Recommended: CS 121 . Course Outcomes:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the systems analyst role.
- Determine expectations of end users and corporate partners.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals of information systems and processing.
- Implement the basic principles of systems development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of CASE (Computer Application System Engineering) tools.
- Identify and use data process, network and object modeling.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic systems design and construction methods.
- Use prototyping and RAD (Rapid Application Development).
- Demonstrate knowledge of the “Human Factor” as a part of systems analysis and design.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the requirements for a career as a systems analyst.

- Technology trends affecting information systems development.
- The role of information systems architecture in systems development.
- Functions of project management.
- Systems analysis and relate the term to the preliminary investigation, problem analysis, requirements analysis, and decision analysis phases of the systems development methodology.
- How to differentiate between several systems design strategies.
