CS 265 - Introduction to Networking


Credits: 5

Provides an in-depth description of the IP network-addressing scheme, including sub-netting, and the design of IP addressing schemes for enterprise-wide networks. Wiring techniques are also covered. This course will prepare students for the CompTIA Network+ Certification.
Recommended: Recommended courses CS 125  and CS 130  or A+ certification.
Course Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the IP (Internet Protocol) addressing scheme.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the sub-netting concept.
  • Calculate the IP addressing schemes for different network configurations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) and the ARP cache.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Routing.
  • Install and test network jacks in dry wall.
  • Build, install and test patch cables.
