Introduction to multi-user and multi-processing operating systems through a study of the Linux/UNIX operating system as implemented on the microcomputer.
Recommended: CS 125.
Course Outcomes:

Explain the purpose and function of the Linux operating system.
Explain the purpose and function of files and disks.
List and explain Linux rules for naming files.
Compare and contrast the super user with the ordinary user.
Locate and explain the purpose and function of the objects found on the GNOME desktop.
Explain the purpose and function of gEdit and AbiWord utilities.
Compare and contrast the two major ways Linux provides for the user to interact with the computer.
