CS 246 - SQL and Relational Database Programming Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Database design concepts are applied in programming environment. Focuses on learning and applying the SQL programming language to efficiently define, access, update and retrieve information from a database in a server based environment. Course Outcomes:
- Understand and develop a practical working knowledge of SQL’s Data Definition, Manipulation and Control Languages.
- Understand optimization techniques to speed up and simplify transactions.
- Understand and enforce data integrity rules.
- Understand and implement functions, subqueries and views.
- Develop and test simple SQL based applications.
- Understand how SQL relates to Database Adminstration.
- Develop an understanding of advanced data access including embedded code.
- Gain experience using SQL in an application programming environment.
