CS 115 - Introduction to Computer & Information Technology Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 Class will explore foundational concepts related to computer hardware and software, networking, databases, programming, Information Systems, and data security. You’ll gain a broad understanding of career options within IT that will help you refine your interests and make vocational choices. Course Outcomes:
- Classify and define major components of a computer system.
- Investigate and explore Artificial Intelligence, existing and future User Interfaces.
- Practice binary and hexadecimal number conversion associated with ASCII, Unicode, and Color representation.
- Assess and contrast data storage, cloud computing and differentiate between various storage devices.
- Analyze and apply file management skills to access and maintain files.
- Explore Cyber Security and personal privacy issues to demonstrate safe online practices.
- Investigate the usage of E-mail, Internet, and networks.
- Design and create a webpage with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Explain the ethical use of software, hardware, and the Internet.
- Compare current high-level programming languages and write a computer program.
- Analyze current Database Management Systems to build and query a database.
