ELA 015 - Communication

Designed to meet the needs of students who speak with difficulty in familiar settings either face-to-face or in brief telephone conversations. Focus is on developing vocabulary, word choice, register, pace and gesture in order to increase effectiveness of communication. Formerly: ESL 015.
Course Outcomes:

Increase speaking and reading fluency.
Use the North American English vowel system, intonation, and stress.
Knowledge of the difference between American communication style and their own style.

Course Topics:

Phonics review, intonation, stress, articulation are taught in cultural context from dialogues, songs and plays.
