Explores the many ways imaginative literature takes shape and offers specific strategies and assignments to generate and polish original poems and stories.
Prerequisite(s): Appropriate placement score or grade of C or higher in ENGL 097; or permission of the Division Chair or designee.
Course Outcomes:

Compose original works of poetry, fiction, and/or creative non-fiction.
Practice and improve their use of poetic elements, such as figurative language and imagery by employing them in their compositions.
Evaluate the effectiveness of poetic and stylistic elements of poetry in compositions written by themselves and others.
Identify elements of prosody in compositions by themselves and others.
Practice and improve their use of the elements of fiction, including plot, setting, characterization, and dialogue by employing them in their compositions.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the elements of fiction in compositions written by themselves and others.
