EV 103 - Advanced Vineyard Management Credits: 1-5 LEC hours per week: 1 LAB hours per week: 8 Designed for viticulture students or growers who wish to acquire hands-on experience in vineyard management. This will be a combination of in-class lecture, followed by field work. Students will be responsible for maintaining an assignment vineyard block, under the supervision of the course instructor. Emphasis will be placed on proper canopy management, vine water status, soil water content, and vineyard irrigation. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or higher in EV 102 or instructor permission. Course Outcomes:
- Identify key components of a vine canopy.
- Identify and track vine developmental phases.
- Conduct hands-on canopy management.
- Identify various water monitoring systems.
- Calculate and implement vineyard irrigation.
- Identify vineyard equipment.
- Create a summer maintenance plan.
- Describe, implement, and submit an integrated pest management plan.
