EV 101 - Establishing A Vinifera Vineyard Credits: 4 LEC hours per week: 3 LAB hours per week: 2 Designed as an introduction to the processes of establishing a vineyard. Emphasis on site selection, vine varieties, soil preparation, planting methods, vineyard layout, and equipment requirements. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or higher in EV 107 . Course Outcomes:
- Discuss the history of genus Vitis.
- Plan and equip a new vineyard.
- Evaluate potential vineyard sites for heat units, soils, slopes, micro-climates, and crop history.
- Explain the accepted methods of propagating grape vines.
- Compare various methods of post-planting care including pest control and cover crops.
