GEOG& 207 - Economic Geography

Introduces students to the changing locations and spatial patterns of economic activity, such as production in agriculture, manufacturing, retail trade, and services; the geographic dynamics of technical change, employment, business organization, resource use, and divisions of labor; principles of trade and transportation; urbanization; regional economic development; and globalization.
Recommended: READ 088  or higher.
Course Outcomes:
  • Articulate a theoretical understanding of capitalism as a social and geographical system.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key economic geography concepts.
  • Apply a geographic framework to understanding and explaining economic activity.
  • Develop and apply an analytical framework that explains patterns of industrial location.
