GEOG& 102 - World Regional Geography Credits: 5 LEC hours per week: 5 This course explores the physical and human geography of principal world regions with special emphasis on the flows that have fostered globalization across time and space. Course Outcomes:
- Identify the physical processes that create the landforms that explain regional climate patterns.
- Demonstrate the spatial relationships between features of each world region’s physical geography and the establishment of its human geography.
- Highlight how aspects of a region’s physical geography help predict its resultant human geography.
- Apply geographic measures to assess the development of a world region relative to others.
- Employ models of global climate change to assess the degree to which select world regions impact - and are impacted by - global climate change.
- Identify and explain the historical developments that create a region’s human geography.
- Demonstrate how geographic flows have allowed certain world regions disproportionate influence in forming the character of the contemporary world.
- Assess the role of international institutions in regional planning efforts.
