GEOG& 102 - World Regional Geography

This course explores the physical and human geography of principal world regions with special emphasis on the flows that have fostered globalization across time and space.
Course Outcomes:
  • Identify the physical processes that create the landforms that explain regional climate patterns.
  • Demonstrate the spatial relationships between features of each world region’s physical geography and the establishment of its human geography.
  • Highlight how aspects of a region’s physical geography help predict its resultant human geography.
  • Apply geographic measures to assess the development of a world region relative to others.
  • Employ models of global climate change to assess the degree to which select world regions impact - and are impacted by - global climate change.
  • Identify and explain the historical developments that create a region’s human geography.
  • Demonstrate how geographic flows have allowed certain world regions disproportionate influence in forming the character of the contemporary world.
  • Assess the role of international institutions in regional planning efforts.
