GIS 150 - Intro to GIS

Introduction to the fundamentals of GIS and GPS using ESRI ArcGIS for Desktop software. Formerly: CET 250 and ENT 150.
Course Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of GIS,and GPS.
  • Use ArcMap, ArcCatalog, geodatabases and shapefiles for mapping.
  • Identify types of shapeflies,layers and feature classes.
  • Create new selections from existing data sets.
  • Identify basic coordinate systems.
  • Create features using an attribute file.
  • Classify, symbolize and label features.
  • Create a presentation-quality map using geographical information.
