HVACR 120 - Air Conditioning and Heating Systems Credits: 5 LAB hours per week: 7.500 Air Condition-Heating Systems trains students in the basics of residential and light commercial package and split comfort systems. Students will be introduced to installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of comfort systems and how to maximize energy efficiency. This course will emphasize safety, code compliance in electrical and mechanical installations, system anatomy, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of typical residential and light commercial heating and cooling equipment. Course Outcomes:
- Measure, plot, and analyze data on a psychometric chart.
- Assess mixed air problems for infiltration and ventilation for air quality.
- Apply code and safety compliance requirements for air conditioning and heating systems.
- Assess if equipment is within operating parameters by measuring superheating and subcooling.
- Explain the operation of a reversing valve.
- Explain the electrical and mechanical components of an air conditioner.
- Complete the National Air Conditioning ER Certification exam.
- Complete the National Electrical ER Certification exam.
