HVACR 100 - Refrigeration Basics I


Credits: 4
LAB hours per week: 6
This course provides students with a basic understanding of the properties and laws of physics which are applicable to the electrical and refrigeration industries. Students will also be taught the core competencies of the HVACR industry.
Course Outcomes:
 

  • Summarize the laws of physics used in the electrical and refrigeration industries.
  • Describe the function of the basic refrigeration cycle.
  • Plot and draw a network cycle using a pressure/enthalpy diagram to determine network.
  • Use industry standard safety applications and procedures.
  • Classify basic and specialized tools, fasteners, and piping used in the industry.
  • Perform plumbing functions required by the HVACR industry.
