IRR 112 - Irrigation Principles

Overview of the elements of irrigation and its industry. Topics include irrigation methods, efficiencies, equipment, and their relationships to soils and plants. Formerly: WGMT 112 and WTM 112.
Course Outcomes:
  • Identify irrigation system components.
  • Identify irrigation system types.
  • Explain the installation, operation, basic maintenance, and costs of types of irrigation systems.
  • Describe the impacts of water quality and supply on irrigation system selection, operation and efficiency.
  • Describe environmental control strategies implemented using irrigation systems.
  • Describe an electrical layout for an irrigation system
  • Analyze irrigation methods for best selection and use.
  • Devise an irrigation scheduling program using the principles of plant-soil-water relationships.
