Turf Irrigation systems will include residential, commercial, and sports fields. Site evaluation, irrigation system components, valve and sprinkler selection, system piping, system design, and controls will be analyzed and used in the course of designing these types of systems. Installation procedures will be discussed. Formerly: WMGT 110 and WTM 110. Course Outcomes:
- Identify the components used in turf irrigation systems.
- Recognize how plant-soil-water relationships, plant water requirements, and watering schedules impact turf irrigation design.
- Describe how to participate in a contract bid process.
- Prepare a bill of materials.
- Create a plot plan.
- Design residential, commercial, and sport field irrigation systems using the proper sprinkler heads and patterns, correct pipe size, zoning and layout, and appropriate valve types, wire sizes, fittings, and controllers.
- Explain industry standard installation methods for residential, commercial, and sports field irrigation systems.
