JD 131 - John Deere Engine Testing, Repair, and Performan

Provides basic physical principles, operation, and construction of two- and four- stroke cycle engines. Topics include disassembly, inspection, measurement, reassembly, and adjustments to engine components. Formerly: JD 110, JD 130 and JD 135.
Course Outcomes:
 

  • Explain operation of John Deere engines.
  • Identify engine lubricants, lubrication systems, cooling systems, and intake and exhaust systems.
  • Disassemble and reassemble an engine using recommended procedures.
  • Test for proper engine performance using a dynamometer.
  • Communicate the complaint, the cause, and the action taken to correct the problem.
  • Use software applications and technical equipment appropriate for task.
  • Exhibit professionalism as listed in “Guidelines to Success” policies.
