RFYE 060 - Re-Entry Life Skills

A Department of Corrections Offender Change course focused on reentry to help prepare offenders for successful integration into communities upon release from prison. Students will focus on personal development, goal setting, problem solving and decision making, money management, and personal reentry issues and needs.
Course Outcomes:
  • Values Clarification, Goal Setting, and Achieving: Learn the value of moral character traits in order to achieve productive personal goals and live as responsible citizens.
  • Personal Development: Develop critical skills in order to effectively attain physical, mental, and emotional well-being through positive communication and lifestyle choices.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: Develop valuable conflict resolution skills and make subsequent constructive decisions.
  • Money Management: Develop a realistic financial plan for post-release by means of understanding and managing the basics of credit, banking, and personal budgeting.
  • Reentry Resources: Obtain release documentation and utilize the available resources provided by federal, state, and local as well as other service providers.
  • Counseling on Individual Community Reentry Concerns: Establish methods conducive to successful reentry into community by means of understanding the dynamics of the relationships among the individual, family, and members of society.
