AMM 260 - Automotive Brake Systems Credits: 3 LEC hours per week: 3 Training in theory, diagnosis and repair of automotive brake systems. Students will study disc, drum and anti-lock brake systems. This course is structured to provide competency-based application of NATEF automotive repair tasks in a working shop environment and will provide students with the background and knowledge to take the ASE certification examinations. Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in AMM 240 and AMM 241 . Corequisite(s): AMM 261 . Course Outcomes:
- Perform a pre-brake service inspection
- Explain Pascal’s Law
- Identify power assist components
- Describe common drum brake concerns
- Describe common disk brake concerns
- Perform ABS, ATC, and ESC warning light diagnosis
- Identify electronic brake control components
