HPER 189 - Basic Fitness II Credits: 1 LAB hours per week: 2 This activity course will emphasize the practice of basic fitness. Concurrent enrollment in HPER 188 is required. Course Outcomes:
- Calculate target heart rate and demonstrate use during exercise.
- Demonstrate proper equipment usage, various forms of exercise and general safety principles.
- Utilize apps and other online fitness tools to report workout hours.
- Measure changes in body composition, strength, and aerobic capacity.
- Apply the overload principle to create progressively more challenging workouts.
- Demonstrate progress in reaching goals outlined in a customized workout plan
