HPER 189 - Basic Fitness II

This activity course will emphasize the practice of basic fitness. Concurrent enrollment in HPER 188  is required.
Course Outcomes:
  • Calculate target heart rate and demonstrate use during exercise.
  • Demonstrate proper equipment usage, various forms of exercise and general safety principles.
  • Utilize apps and other online fitness tools to report workout hours.
  • Measure changes in body composition, strength, and aerobic capacity.
  • Apply the overload principle to create progressively more challenging workouts.
  • Demonstrate progress in reaching goals outlined in a customized workout plan
